Most of the traditional guitar repertoire is of classical-romantic type, two of its main representatives being Fernando Sor and Francisco Tárrega. Other authors, such as Agustín Barrios, Heitor Villa-Lobos or Antonio Lauro had the skill to introduce popular rhythms in their compositions. The present collection of works integrates both philosophies, combining the most expressive classical techniques with the most traditional rhythms. It contains three waltzes, three boleros, one tango, one samba, one bossa nova and one cumbia-samba.
Ten pieces for guitar of intermediate difficulty, from a strong popular style and with an exquisite classical touch. Rhythmic and harmonious music, with catchy melodies and a Latin influence present in most of the works.
The CD was recorded by the international concert player Toni Cotolí, who is playing and spreading this style of music all around the world since 2009. He is receiving an excellent welcome from a widely different audience. The combination of the classical technique with the popular rhythms makes these pieces the perfect complement for any guitarist wanting to impact an audience with something different.
