Jose Antonio Lagunar - Concert 1ª Especial
At Guitarras de Luthier, we are delighted to present a new guitar by the Madrid-based master luthier José Antonio Lagunar, a maker with an extensive and successful career in Spanish guitar making. His experience and deep understanding of the craft were shaped, among other key stages of his career, by his time as former Head of Workshop at Manuel Contreras.
His professional journey reflects years of dedication, research and refinement in the art of handcrafted guitar making, always with particular attention to the balance between tradition, tonal character and outstanding craftsmanship.
The guitar we have just received is a Concierto Primera Especial model, a magnificent expression of this philosophy. Its carefully selected tonewoods are captivating from the very first glance: an elegant German spruce top, paired with spectacular cocobolo and exotic ebony for back and sides, giving the instrument a distinctive aesthetic and a truly exclusive visual character. The beauty of these woods, with their contrasting colours, grain patterns and natural nuances, makes this guitar a one-of-a-kind instrument.
Yet it is in its sound that this guitar truly reveals its full potential. Its voice stands out for its tonal richness, clarity of articulation and remarkable sustain, allowing each note to unfold with breadth and retain its presence. The response is expressive and well-defined, with exceptional clarity in articulated passages and a resonance that invites the player to explore the full range of musical expression.
The result is an instrument that combines sound depth, tonal elegance and precise articulation, offering the guitarist a wealth of possibilities in both delicate passages and those demanding greater technical skill and expressive intensity.
This Concierto Primera Especial embodies José Antonio Lagunar’s expertise: a handcrafted guitar that brings together extensive experience in guitar making, the selection of exceptional materials and an unwavering pursuit of tonal excellence.
A guitar for those seeking much more than an instrument: a distinctive voice, extraordinary tonewoods and the expertise of a master luthier behind every detail.
