This song by Federico Mompou belongs to the cycle of thirteen songs and piano dances, composed from 1921. This was in 1943. Together with the number 5, they are the only original songs unlike the rest that are taken from Catalan folklore . As one of the students of Mompou’s work has defined, the use of “ambiguous” chords (those in which the tonality cannot be clearly defined) give this music a very special flavor and lyricism. From the original in Mi b m I have done the transcription in Re m, (with the sixth in re) for its adaptation to a tone compatible with the guitar.
