Detlev Bork, German guitarist born in 1967 is praised by the international press as an innovative and flexible guitarist. He has received various awards, including the “best classical musician award” and his CD “The other Spanish Guitar” was elected “classical recording of the month” in the USA.
As grandson of a distinguished pianist, Detlev Bork grew up in a musical atmosphere, learning the piano and singing in the “Kieler Knabenchor” (Boys-Choir of Kiel).
Later he turned to the guitar and studied with Tadashi Sasaki (MHS Köln) and Carlos Bonell (London) as well as operatic singing with Klaus-Jürgen Küper and Margarete van den Eynden. He took part in master classes with José Tomás, Abel Carlevaro, Eduardo Fernández, Luise Walker and others. Further studies took him to Spain, extending his knowledge of the flamenco style with Andrés Batista, Felix de Utrera, Luis Maravilla and José Luis Postigo.
Detlev Bork has performed as soloist, chamber musician or with orchestra throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Israel, and Mexico. His successful London debut in 1997 was followed by winning concerts in Paris, Madrid, Toronto, Vienna and many other cities.
Prominent composers such as Jens Joneleit, Frank Wallace, Jaume Torrent, Roland Chadwick - to name but a few - have written especially for him.
