In the author’s own words:
The idea of writing a method for the guitar in modern flamenco arose from two motivations: on the one hand, to fill an educational gap in a genre that, over time, has become increasingly popular and mainstream; on the other hand, to explore, through this language, guitar timbres and techniques that I dare say are new or known only in Rock, Fusion, Jazz, Blues, etc.
Therefore, my task is to present flamenco not from the classical perspective, already extensively covered by many different international methods, to which this volume can serve as a useful complement, but rather from the perspective of modern commercial genres such as World Music, Pop-Rock, Blues, Jazz, and Fusion, within a dimension specifically defined as Modern Flamenco.
There are numerous references to artists such as the Gipsy Kings, Paco de Lucía, Egberto Gismonti, Al Di Meola, and John McLaughlin, to name just a few.
I recommend studying this method, which is intended for those who already have a solid technical and musical foundation in guitar. It is presented in the following order: starting with rhythms, moving on to harmonic progressions and specific techniques, then phrasing, and finally the original piece.
Furthermore, for those who cannot read music, I have included tablature where I felt it was appropriate.
I hope to provide assistance to those who wish to discover or delve deeper into a new musical genre and to those who, on the other hand, are seeking new technical secrets of the guitar.
